NFQ | Career

NFQ is a great place not only to build, but also to rebuild a career. Pattarawit (Wit) Gochgornkamud, UX/UI Designer at NFQ Thailand, is living proof of that. From being a Creative/Art Director at an advertising agency to working with UX/UI at NFQ - Pattarawit truly made his own way in life & at NFQ.

Wit has been with us for 3 years. Fun fact, he was the very first hire in the new Thailand office, along with two other people. “At the time, I was a junior designer navigating unfamiliar territory. Fortunately, I quickly embraced learning. I received dedicated mentorship from a highly competent colleague, fostering significant professional development,” remembers Pattarawit.

When asked what word would describe his 3 years at NFQ best, Pattarawit says “growth.” “First of all, the Design team has grown – we’re now 5 people, and there are more than 22 people all together in the office. And I’ve also grown as a person, learning with each successive project. Every client has a unique perspective on how they want to build their product. This means I have to adapt to it as well.”

Wit notes that NFQ is not only a great employer but a hub where goal-driven people can work towards a common objective. He also loves being a part of the diverse working environment he and his colleagues jokingly call the “United Nations”. But all jokes aside, Pattarawit, who re-invented his career at NFQ, believes that it’s a great place to work for all who are brave enough to make their own path. “Don’t waste your life on a career you don’t want to pursue and after you change it, don’t sit around and wait for leaders or anyone else to tell you what to do. By the way, if you’re wondering how Giedrė broke into the world of design, her path was both academic and one of passion. As a young adult, she considered studies in chemistry, but ultimately chose the Academy of Arts where she took up graphic design. In addition to some prompting from her parents, the decision was also influenced by remembering how much she loved writing and editing her own little fashion magazine in second grade, which she then exchanged for the magazines of her friends. In her spare time, she still loves to draw – a habit that developed during her time at the Academy.

Giedrė Mikutėnaitė

Meet Egidijus, Lead Software Engineer and Team Lead. He started his journey here 6 years ago as a Software Engineer and a beginner table football player. Now he’s made his way to a position of leadership and is a worthy opponent even for NFQ’s strongest foosball players.

Asked how the job of Software Engineer differs from his current role, Egidijus says it’s mainly the depth and range of the problems he has to solve. He remembers that when he was a Software Engineer, the point of assignments was to understand the issues involved in the business problem and solve them as written in the assignment. Now as Lead Software Engineer and Team Lead, he views things with a broader perspective. Egidijus monitors businesses’ needs, looks for solutions to their problems and decides how much resources can and should be devoted to solving them.

Day-to-day, Egidijus leads a team of 7 Software Engineers. Back when he was a Software Engineer, one of the most important things for him was to be part of a cohesive and well-organized team. So when he became a Team Lead, he started to shape his team into the kind that he would want to be part of.

Another great part of Egidujus’s job is communicating with clients. He enjoys interacting with them, studying and understanding their business problems, and figuring out what our team of experts can do to solve them.

The question naturally arises about how much coding he gets to do now that he’s a Team Lead? Enough, that’s for sure, Egidijus says. He jokes that it’s all relative and depends on how much he has to do and how little time he has. But overall, there’s a good balance. And for Egidijus, moving between programming, communicating with clients and managing a team is what makes his work interesting and keeps any sense of routine away.

Egidijus Lukauskas

This is Hien Le Nguyen Da, a Senior Project Manager at NFQ and a professional chess player. Hien has been working as a software developer for the past 15 years, and for more than two years now, she’s leading projects with our world-famous client, Germany-based digital agency Shopmacher.

When asked about her accomplishments, Hien says that one of her proudest achievements while working at NFQ is establishing strong trust with the client and making significant contributions to her team's growth. Her dedication and performance were duly recognized, resulting in her well-deserved promotion to the position of branch manager for Shopmacher in Vietnam.

Hien sees growth opportunities as the ultimate source of motivation at work. “I like helping developers grow and finding ways to generate more revenue for the company,” Hien told us in a recent interview. “I am also deeply passionate about inspiring others to gain a profound understanding of their work, helping them to achieve high performance. And I feel that I’ve achieved something myself when I have helped my team members in their personal and professional journeys.”

Hien believes that providing a clear understanding of the purpose of each task and how it contributes to the project as a whole greatly motivates individuals to give their best effort. Consequently, she embraces a respectful management style, ensuring that her team comprehends the significance of their work in detail. This empowers each team member to unleash their full potential, propelling them towards shared success. We believe that strong leaders build strong businesses, so we are proud to have a leadership athlete Tadas Gliaubicas as our CTO.

Tadas is living proof that with willingness, persistence and work you can truly make your own way at NFQ. He started his journey here almost 7 years ago as a beardless Team Technology Officer and made his way to the CTO.

When he took over our delivery unit almost three years ago, it was decentralized and had separate teams without common standards and processes. Thanks to Tadas, the delivery unit became not only united but reached their record financial results during the time of COVID-19.

And did you know that in the first two years of Tadas as CTO leadership, not a single manager from the delivery unit switched teams or left NFQ? Well, our guess is that people really respect leaders that have gone through the same path as they are walking now. With him behind the CTO wheel, NFQ not only expanded in Lithuania, but also opened an office in Poland.

Today, Tadas is our CTO, but his potential as a great leader emerged when he was only 15 years old. At that time, he led his first international IT team of 100 people. You ask where? For almost 5 years the future CTO at NFQ guided his fellow gamers to the battles of popular online game Lineage 2. We begged him to reveal his nickname, but Tadas was strong and kept this secret to himself.

Meet Mindaugas Venckus, the CFO at NFQ. Mindaugas has been with us for 10 years and in that time his career path has taken him from mid-level manager to head of finance. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Let’s take a look at how he set his own path from the beginning.

Mindaugas started out at NFQ as a Quality Manager. He was mainly responsible for two things: ensuring our clients are happy with our services and improving the profitability of specific teams.

Mindaugas says his first year at NFQ was intense and varied. At one point, he started reviewing contracts and getting involved in broader project management. More responsibilities soon brought a more senior position: Mindaugas became Head of the Projects Department, where he also handled recruitment and team management.

One thing you should know about NFQ is that there are always career opportunities for people who are passionate about their work and want to achieve more. Mindaugas is a perfect example. After 2 years leading the Projects Department, he became Chief Operating Officer.

As COO, he was responsible for finance, legal, sys-admin and administration. At the time, the organization was growing a lot and there was a need for greater focus on finance, legal and controlling matters. And, as Mindaugas puts it, he likes to be where he’s needed the most. So that is how he moved into his current role as Chief Finance Officer.

Asked what drives him most at work, Mindaugas says it’s goals. Achieving goals and having a positive impact is what he enjoys the most.

Meet Wojciech Laskawiec, a brilliant Tech Lead at our Product & Innovation Unit in Kraków. Knowing that IT  was his destiny at the tender age of 7, he has eagerly pursued it ever since. First at the University of Science and Technology in Kraków and then by working for different IT companies.

After 10 years of writing code like a champ, Wojciech was ready to shift gears and start focusing his energies on working directly with people. When a vacancy showed up at NFQ, he jumped on it immediately.

What he loves about his new position is the ability to help people grow professionally and improve their technical skills. This also gives him extra motivation to stay on his toes regarding the latest developments in the field.

Being honest and always keen to talk and exchange ideas, Wojciech is a big believer in sharing knowledge and interpersonal communication. Why so? For the simple reason that collaborative work easily outperforms siloed endeavors.

This attitude also meshes perfectly with Wojciech’s democratic, open-minded leadership style. He’s always happy to consider well-reasoned arguments, even when they’re pitching a different approach to an ongoing project.

Wojciech also likes having brainstorming sessions, both to facilitate problem-solving and to better understand his team. “As they say, it’s better to build a superhero team than a team of superheroes” and here at NFQ, we couldn’t agree more. Wojciech is a living testament to how much can be achieved through a combination of skill, communication, leadership, and attentiveness to others.
